What we have achieved so far on our journey towards sustainability
In the year 2022, we were awarded the SILVER MEDAL in the sustainability assessment by Ecovadis, which is internationally recognised for its expertise in assessing environmental, social and ethical performance. This recognition places our company in the top 25% of thousands of companies assessed by Ecovadis worldwide.
This achievement is attributable to the efforts made in recent years in all ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) areas.

We feel involved in supporting local communities, supporting them for years:
ONLUS “I Bambini delle Fate” (Fairy Children)
Social enterprise that since 2005 has been providing economic support to social inclusion projects and paths managed by local partners for the benefit of families with autism and other disabilities.
La Casa di Toti was born from a mother’s dream: to transform an 18th-century historical dwelling (which has been used as a holiday home for the past 20 years) into a semi-residential day centre (micro community) for special young people aged 18 and over, who will work in the management of an Ethical B&B.
AIL
Promotes and supports scientific research for the treatment of leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma, financing innovative studies and laboratories throughout Italy. The Association assists and accompanies patients and families at all stages of the pathway, in close contact with the Haematology Centres, which it supports on an ongoing basis to best meet the needs of patients and caregivers. It aims to improve the quality of life of those fighting a blood cancer and to raise public awareness of the fight against these diseases.
Our team
We have set up a team dealing specifically with sustainability issues, MI ESG TEAM, comprising the main corporate functions sales, HR, operations, procurement, marketing.
In order to raise awareness of sustainability issues within our Group, we promoted the ESG CONTEST, a prize initiative in which all employees were invited to submit green, social and governance projects and ideas.
Next goals
For the next three years, we are setting ourselves challenging goals:
- drafting and publishing the sustainability report in accordance with the ESRS accounting principles established by the European Commission through the work of EFRAG
- formal membership of the UN GLOBAL COMPACT
- aim to improve our sustainability journey through recognition by external third parties (e.g. ECOVADIS)
Environment
Adopt SCOPE 1,2 and prospectively scope 3 measurement/monitoring mechanisms with associated timelines and GHG emission reduction targets and their reporting, measurement/monitoring targets, reporting and switch from conventional to renewable electricity consumption.
Social
We will continue to support local communities through donations to non-profit organisations engaged in social work and assistance to disadvantaged people.
In addition to the current donations, we are committed to giving concrete form to the ‘Let’s build sensory wings’ project, which won the company contest and aims to furnish a play area for children with audio-visual disabilities at the Paediatrics Division of the S. Marco Hospital in Catania.
People
We will continue to be committed to and ensure within our Group and our supply chain that working conditions, social dialogue, gender equality, diversity, inclusion, occupational safety and health, personnel management, careers and training are taken care of at the highest level and in accordance with the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the International Bill of Human Rights and the ILO (International Labour Organisation) Core Labour Conventions.
Governance
We will implement and integrate corporate structures, adopting targeted procedures and processes, and ensure the best training of our resources to adequately handle ESG challenges in all their scope and innovation.
